Chinese in Benin City; Kung Fu, Kada Plaza

Hey guys,

Merry Christmas to you all:) I pray this season brings nothing but joy and happiness to you.

I traveled to Benin City for a couple of days to spend time with family.

Throughout my stay, I was craving Chinese food for some reason. I stumbled across a restaurant in a place called KADA PLAZA. I was pretty excited when I saw 'Kung Fu' with pictures of different Chinese meals in the plaza.

My friend and I went in to see what they had, it was very surprising for me as it was not the usual Chinese I was used to. Even the staff had different names for the meals they offered.

They had a buffet setting. How it works is, you select the meals you want then go to the cashier to tell her what you want. The cashier makes a bill for your meal, you pay then take the bill (or docket like they called it) to the server who then serves your meal for you. The process sounds long shey?!?! I thought so too.

They had meal options like shaki in sauce, beef in sauce, gizzard in sauce, turkey, coleslaw, chicken in sauce, chinese rice, vegetable rice etc. It was not a large variety of options though.

I think the concept was to mix Nigerian and Chinese delicacies to appeal to the customers but it was not really working for me. I mean if it is supposed to be a Chinese Restaurant then abeg please let it be fully Chinese meals na...sigh

Overall, it was not so bad...think I would give the restaurant a 5 out of a 10. The service was pretty slow and at times they ran out of food so you had to choose another option or combine two together (I had to do that when I was ordering take away)

I have made a to-go list for 2015...Places I need to go before the year ends..I pray I can go everywhere especially with this horrible Lagos Traffic

1. Hans and Rene
2. Mico's House of Chicken and Waffles
3. Piccolo Mondo Restaurant

Have we all been able to achieve our goals for 2015??

Time with the family at BUKKA HUT LEKKI

Hello everyone,

I hope our week has been splendid:):)

I am so excited that more and more people read my posts. It is so encouraging:):) I hope you all enjoy reading as much as I enjoy writing.

Last weekend, my dad decided to take my brothers and I out for lunch. He mentioned there was a really good place in Lekki he had been to a couple of times. I was excited because it was definitely a new place for me to talk about on the blog.

He took us to a place called Bukka Hut on Admiralty way in Lekki. On getting there, I remembered my cousin had told me about the place and how good the food was so I was more excited.

The restaurant has a buffet setting so you could see all the varieties of food they had to offer. They had different types of fish, amala, semovita, different types of rice, beans, beef, assorted meat, chicken, turkey and many more.

The food tasted very good and it was reasonably priced too:)

I hope we had a great week and looking forward to the week ahead. I wish you nothing but the best week filled with joy and happiness.

Remember my special announcement in my previous post. This weekend was the 3 days of food, music and fun called 'Fiesta of Flavours'.

It started last week Friday and ended today. I spoke to a couple of people and they said they had an amazing time there. Whoop Whoop!!

Unfortunately, I could not go due to unplanned events:(:( but I got feedback from a few people. The place had a huge variety of food stands, drink stands, play house for the children, celebrities came in to entertain guests, superb chefs cooking three and five course meals, food training and workshops, cooking competition, dancing competition and so much more. I swear I am beyond sad that I missed it:(

So if you were like me who missed out on the whole weekend, sorrryyy ooooo

Well, I am patiently waiting for next time.

Did any reader go??

Family Day out to Ikeja City Mall, Lagos

Hello people,

HAPPY NEW MONTH:):)

It is December and the last month of 2015. Whoop Whoop!!! This year has been a mixture of amazing and sad for me but all I can say is God is good:)

For next year, I am going to set out goals for my blog and my eating lifestyle. Would be sharing my goals on the next post. I think setting goals keeps you motivated and continuously keeps you in line:)

So today was literally a food fest day:)

Usually, I go to the city mall for KFC or Mr Biggs or Debonairs Pizza but today was different. I actually went to watch a movie with my mum.

After the movie, she brought the idea that we should go to Shoprite supermarket to see what they had to offer rather than the usual places we go to. We got in and I immediately went to the Hot Meals section. I wanted something different so I chose the rice seafood paella, grilled chicken in onion sauce, mixed vegetable salad with no cream, chicken samosa and spring rolls. I topped it up with a vanilla ice-cream with snickers topping from cold stone.

THEY GAVE ME JUST ONE SNICKER:(:(

MY TOP 5 FAVOURITE SPOTS IN LONDON

Hey people:)

Happy Wednesday:)

I hope you all are well. Thank you to those who read, share and comment on my posts. I really appreciate it and it keeps me going:)

I feel London sick (cannot say home sick as it is not home LOL) and I miss all my amazing  food spots. I wanted to share with you my top 5 lunch/dinner spots in London. These are officially the best places to have office meetings, meet with friends, birthdays, family outings, dinner dates etc.

To get more information about them, please read the full post of these restaurants on the blog:)

1. GOKYUZU. This is a Turkish restaurant in Finchley road. It is a bus ride from Finchley station. They serve a lot of meat but also have a vegetarian section.

2. RODIZIO RICO; This is an all you can eat meat Brazilian restaurant with a brazilian street food section. I recommend it for all the meat lovers:) There is one restaurant at Covent Garden and another at 02 arena (this one is bigger)

3. WAGAMAMA; all time fav Japanese restaurant. They have so many locations in London though they do not do delivery. If you love spicy, I advice you order the 'fire cracker'. They do breakfasts at the restaurant in the airport and its yummy:)

4. MASALA ZONE; A great Indian Restaurant with non-veg and vegetarian options:) I went to the one in Covent Garden. I am not sure about deliveries. I advise you to go for the platters

5. BYRON; You cannot have a top 5 without burgers. Burgers add that extra spice to life. This place is not the usual Mcdonalds/Burger King type burger ooo. It is absolutely divine. Some compare it to FIVE GUYS and burgers at BURGERS & LOBSTERS but you should try all of them and see the difference.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE SPOTS IN LONDON??

Sweet & palatable Moi-Moi

Hey people,

I hope we are all doing well and we had an amazing weekend:)

For a while now, I start my saturdays with a hot plate of sliced bread, fried eggs, quaker hot and hot chocolate. My mum wanted something different this time so she ordered moi-moi.

She  heard about this place called 'NO LEFTOVERS' and how good their moi-moi tastes. They do deliveries too so it was just the most convenient option. She ordered for 12 so each person at home would have two or three.

The moi-moi came so late though like they had forgotten our delivery:( so they lost cool points with customer service but the owner apologised for the mistake so no hard feelings

It came in a nicely packed box. It was very hot too like they just made it (I advise not to eat moi-moi just made and very hot because it is really soft and not as nice). The food was really good and my mum and her friend really complimented it too and they ate it after it had cooled down.

For the moi-moi lovers out there, you should really try it out oo plus 12 cost 2200 naira with delivery. They are located in Gbagada, just beside Corona Primary School, Gbagada

                                                     SEE NICE PACKAGING OOOOOO

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE MOI MOI IS TOO SOFT:(

Reunited with my childhood leisure centre; Ikoyi Club

Heyy people,

I hope our week has been amazing and the Lagos traffic (for those in Lagos) has not been too hectic. Yesterday I had the chance to go to Ikoyi Club after a really long time. I had not been there in over 10 years. I was one of the 'Ikoyi Club Children'.

I remember I would go there and swim and order 'the mixed grill'. That was my favourite food at Ikoyi Club. It was fries/rice with gravy, fried egg, sausage, steak and chicken. I would literally wait for as long as it took for the food to be ready. I loved it that much:)

Yesterday, my brother ordered the famous mixed grill but this time it was so small:( it still tasted as great as ever though. I just ordered ofada rice with the sauce and plantain on the side. They still have their usual suya too:) Other meals they have are fillet fish, beans, porridge, fresh fish, mashed potatoes and many more:)

The little treats Ikoyi CLub had to offer us;

                                                           OFADA RICE IS BEAU

What happened to Sweet Sensation??

Hey people,

I hope we all enjoyed our weekend and our week has started on a great note:)

My day was not too bad for those wondering:) It is quite obvious that I have been in Lagos for a while. Throughout my stay, I have been to Sweet Sensation in Gbagada twice. The first time I was a bit disappointed with the dry chicken and the small portion of rice I was given. I felt it might just have been a bad day for them.

However, I went there today again with my brother. My brother ordered the spaghetti and chicken meal. The food did not taste fresh, the chicken was small and hard and to make things worse, it had a weird smell after they took it out of the microwave (thank God say e no smell like spoilt food).
I ordered jollof rice, chicken and salad. It was not as great and I was very disappointed. This time, the customer service was really poor too.

Sweet sensation used to be one of my favourite places in Lagos especially because of its ice cream and big crunchy cones. They had a variety of meals and not just one type of chicken. Maybe it is just me overthinking it or the one I have been to is the bad egg in the basket.

Well, I am still asking, WHAT HAPPENED TO SWEET SENSATION OOOOO?!?!?!!

                            Looks can be deceiving sha

COLD STONE NIGERIA

Hey people,

I hope our week has been amazing:)

Today I met a lady who is into creating food recipes, she is such a pleasant person. I would be definitely putting up some of her recipes soon:) I also met a blogger who is into everything beauty related from skin care products to makeup to fashion and so on. Please check out her blog; www.thebeautyprojectng.com

So back to the matter for today.

FINALLY!! FINALLY!! FINALLY!! THE POST ON COLD STONE IS HERE

I am pretty excited about this post because Cold Stone is one of my favourite ice-cream places in Nigeria (for now, I can even say the world). I know so many people who love cold stone and are obsessed with it. There is just something about the way it melts and feels in your mouth. Am I right or am I right?!?!?

I am thinking about embarking on a journey to try out the different flavours. What do you think?

I cannot really compare their ice-cream with any other right now because it is just a taste and class of its own. They have different flavours even for those who are not really into really sweet desserts. You also get the chance to create your own incase you want someting totally different. They also have a 'hot stone' section so if you are feeling for a brownie with cream or a warm dessert rather than ice-cream you can have that. They also do cakes though I have not tried their cakes yet. Anyone tried them before?

I ordered the 'oreo overload' that has oreos biscuits and chocolate chips with sweet ice cream and fudge. All mixed together into a waffle cone.

My brother ordered the 'chocolate devotion' which is chocolate ice cream with chocolate chips, brownie and fudge

Anyone tried any other flavours???

OREO OVERLOAD ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE

CHOCOLATE DEVOTION ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE

ICE CREAM AND JUNK LOVERS, MAKE SURE YOU GO TO COLD STONE TODAY:)

Hey guys

Happy Eid-Mubarak to all my muslim friends and readers out there. I hope we all had a fantastic holiday.

I had a really wonderful two days because all I did was eat and eat more hehehe I am definitely starting the fitfam life from next week:( I had a great time with friends and family except when the police stopped me and took my meat on thursday (story for another day mehn).

Dodo-Gizzard on Thursday was super delicious but no ram meat thanks to the Police (I would be putting up the recipe for this soon)

I went to a party on Friday but since I did not want the usual nigerian food, I decided to get me some Chinese:):)

Got some rice, noodles, veggies with sausages, shrimp, chicken in curry, fish in sauce and minced beef with cashew nuts

Dessert was superb:):) Red velvet cake with cream AND ice-cream on the side:):) The dessert is from HELADO DELICIA and you definitely need to try this out. They have stores in Lekki, Lagos and they do deliveries.

Chicken Shawarma with Watermelon Juice. I had never seen this can juice before till yesterday

The celebration cannot be complete without the meat:):) RAM MEAT and SUYA MEAT.

I saw a ram being killed and prepared for the first time. For one hour, I was contemplating on being a vegetarian lol

Please share how you celebrated your holiday. Any special delicacies?
