Guest Blog Post Feature: Georgetown Cupcakes

Hello guys,

Today my amazing friend, Abimbola Oshodi decided to share with us her experience at a famous cake shop in Bethesda, USA. I was so excited when she agreed to feature on my blog YAAAAAAAY :):)

A little about her;
I have known Abimbola Oshodi (Rennie as she is known by) since we were children. She is a recent graduate and an aspiring psychologist. She has been in love with food since she was a baby and uses every opportunity she has to eat something new. She is one person I know that likes to experiment with food like me(I think that is one of the reasons why we are so close). She traveled to the United States recently and has seen been on a food journey to experience and taste the various types of food the United States has to offer.  You can follow her on twitter; her twitter handle is @_bimbee_

Georgetown Cupcakes

I am currently spending sometime in the US with my family , and it's safe to say that they are food lovers who wanted to show me the path they thread! Lol
Not that I am complaining or anything :):):)
They know know the best places to go for food from any country , desserts and sweets, and they have infected me with the syndrome.
Hi, my name is Rennie, and I am officially a foodie :D
Over the weekend my cousins were arguing about the the best place to take me and I asked for cake .
They decided Georgetown cupcakes was the best place to take me. And since they love really close to Bethesda. We took a nice drive, amazing weather too.
A brief History of Georgetown cupcakes; it was founded by 2 sisters who quit their jobs, to do what the loved, bake cupcakes . The first store was in Washington DC, then Bethesda, and now they have a couple of branches in New York.
When we got there,

I immediately took to the place, little shop on a busy street, simply and exquisitely designed.
By the time I saw the menu,

I didn't know which flavor to pick ! And each cupcake was almost $4 !

Trust me, it's worth it . My cousin came to my rescue, and picked her personal favorites for me, and I am in  love!!
The cakes were creamy, filling, the frosting was made with cheese and lol I'm already salivating ^_^
See for your self, and be sure to stop by whenever you're in the area!

If you are in Bethesda or around the area and craving cupcakes, you know the place to go ^_^
Yours,
Rennie ❤️

Looking for a Classy Dinner?? A la carte is the answer

Hey guys,

Today I decided to go International and classy, Yippee :):) My family and I travelled to Dubai this summer, during our trip we decided to go for a boat cruise dinner called Bateaux Dubai.I do not remember the name of the boat X_X but I do remember that our chef for the night was French. I do not know if it a common thing but with every French chef, you expect to have an A la carte menu. As we arrived on the boat, we were given our menu and it had so many French names which I cannot even spell. Our dinner was a three course meal; the starter which was cold, the main course and the dessert; which honestly was the best course of the night.

My little brother who is used to eating only junk food and jollof rice did not like the menu and ended up having fries, bread and a glass of coke but my parents seemed to enjoy the meal. In my opinion, the presentation was exquisite and they get an A for that. The food itself was not too bad. I liked the well done steak and potatoes which was my main course and the dessert was to die for:) The starter was not really my kind of food.

Overall, the experience was not bad at all. This three course dinner is really filling and goes well with a bottle of red wine. As we all know beef and red wine are a good combo:) This is definitely a dinner meal for people who want to have that classy dinner experience.

Main course; Potatoes, well done steak...

The Dessert; Chocolate cake, baileys cream and ice cream

Main course; beef, vegetables

The Starter
My main course; 10 for presentation, 6 for taste:)

The dessert gets a 10 for presentation and a 10 for taste:)

I just noticed the smiley face on the plate.Do you see it too??

My brother's main course; he was not really impressed by the look or the taste :(

The Famous starter which I thought would be some hot chicken LOL!

I would like to hear some of your own classy dinner experiences:)

The British way

Hello everyone,

Today I thought I should share with you a cheap and easy way to have a full British dinner. My friend made the food actually but I can share the recipe with you. We were both broke and did not want to spend money on take-out so my friend suggested we cooked a home meal. We bought potatoes, vegetables, mustard sauce, double cream milk, cider and steak at Sainsbury's store which all cost less than 10 pounds. I know right, just 10 pounds but luckily the steak was on offer; 2 packs for 4 pounds or so:)

The procedure;

1.Boil the potatoes in boiling water till soft (can add salt to water if you want but not necessary)
2.Put the vegetables in a colander and place in a boiling pot of water and cover to steam (vegetables are healthier when you steam them)
3.Pour a little oil in a heated fry pan, place your steak in the fry pan but make sure the oil is not to hot so the steak can cook rather than burn. Keep checking the steak from time to time depending on how well done you want it. Turn it over when the bottom side is cooked.
4. While the steak is cooking, pour your mustard sauce into a heated fry pan, add your cider and double cream milk and keep stirring till fully mixed together.
5. Check your steak and if done, remove from fry pan.

Serve hot and enjoy:)
I really enjoyed the dinner with a glass or orange juice:) Trust me, it was a well balanced diet meal and you definitely should try it.

If anyone has any famous British meals or recipes, please share:)

THE END PRODUCT:):)

Thank God For Fridays:)

TGI Fridays are not just for Fridays:):)

My mum, brother and I went shopping the other day at the Tesco store at Lakeside Shopping mall. This was our regular grocery shopping but on our way back we got so hungry. In search of a place to eat, we found this Retail park with different restaurants so we went into the closest one which was TGIFridays. It took a while to get a seat as the place was so full and it was like 6pm on a Wednesday.

We finally got seated and got the menu. They had a variety of food from steak to ribs to burgers to shrimps to fries and more. Just looking through the menu I had that happy feeling girls get when their boyfriend who they have not seen for so long comes to visit (Do not judge me, food is that special to me).

I finally decided to order the combo meal with steak, shrimp, vegetables and chips. I mean its better to go for a combo than one meal and keep wandering what the others would have tasted like.

The meal itself cost like 14-15 pounds with drinks included so it was not that expensive:):)
It is not everyday McDonald or Burger King, sometimes TGIFridays:)

JACK DANIEL'S STEAK AND SHRIMP COMBO:)

I have also tried the ribs and grilled chicken combo, though those are more expensive LOL!! I would recommend this for anyone who has a craving for ribs or steak and does not mind spending more than a tenner(10 pounds) on food:):)

The Rhythm of the Soul

Nothing like soul food....Caribbean style:)

Hello guys,

So today I stumbled on this restaurant at the Lakeside shopping mall food court. They sell all sorts of Caribbean dishes. I think it was the music from Gidilounge FM that was on the that attracted me. I have always had this issue when it comes to deciding what I want and this time it was not any different. The meal choices looked so good and all at reasonable prices as well. After 10 minutes, I decided to go for rice and peas with jerk chicken and plantain. The chicken had the perfect amount of jerk sauce and mixed with the rice, it tasted really sweet but had a spicy kick to it. I really liked it. Of course the plantain was goood (plantain is LIFE!!) I totally recommend people to go try their food:)

Don't be discouraged by the look of the chicken because like they say, we should not judge a book by its cover.

If you are looking for fast and ready to eat African cuisine then that is the place to be.

I really want to learn how to cook Caribbean food,  so if you guys could help,I would really appreciate it:)

P.S; IF YOU'VE TRIED ANY CARIBBEAN FOOD BEFORE (NOT HOME-MADE :P), PLEASE LET ME KNOW ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE:)

Thai cuisine is the way:)

My friends and I planned to meet up for lunch at London Bridge as it was the best location for everyone. One of us had to choose the restaurant and she came up with a place called Dim T. Just hearing the name I expected the normal Thai food I usually have but this was different.

We ordered starters and a main course. I ordered the chicken dumplings for starter. This was my first time of ordering a dumpling. It was good but not the greatest. I was not too excited and did not really expect so much from the main course. For the main course, I ordered the firecracker with steamed rice. The firecracker was a mixture of chicken, chilli, vegetables and cashew nut(I do not understand the concept of nuts with chicken so I asked that it should be taken out of my meal).

My friends had some meat dumplings and spring rolls as starters. For main, they had the Mongolian beef with steamed rice and noodles with prawns.

On a scale of one to ten, I give the food a 7/10. It was a restaurant with a great view of tower bridge which was a plus during our meal. The food was quite pricey though because I remember my meal cost 25 pounds but that was including a take away meal.

The presentation of the food is lovely and makes the food look even better:) If you are looking for that authentic Thai flavour then DIM T,London bridge is a good place to go to:)

The starter and main courses were really filling and we couldn't get any dessert :( but maybe next time ^_^

Ben's cookies or heaven cookies?!?!?!

The first experiment!

Hello everyone,

I have always wanted to start a blog but never knew what I wanted it to be about till the day I had my first taste of Ben's cookies. Right after the first bite, I knew I just had to tell everyone what it tasted like and then it dawned on me, my blog should be about food:)

Before I get into it, I think I should introduce myself:)

I am a recent graduate of London School of Economics and I am a foodie or Food junkie like some would say. I have always loved food from a very young age and was always curious to try different cuisines. I am that girl that would pay any amount for food rather than buy clothes. Fortunately, I am not obese (least not yet X_X). I love to write, take pictures and share my experiences and what better way to put all these interests into one than to start a food blog. I hope with time I get a lot of views so I am encouraged to keep sharing:)

Now back to the matter(Wizkid and Sarz Back to the matter song playing in my head lol). I know cookies are not a cuisine or a special food type but I had to blog about this one as it gave me the incredible idea for my blog.

The milk chocolate cookies are nothing but the best taste ever. The way the chocolate melts in your mouth and how soft the cookie is when you break it is an experience you must go through before you die...lool..its not that serious. The cookie does not crumble so no mess is created. I know some would be discouraged with the fat content but sometimes we just need that sugary content in our diet:):). I do not know about you but I crave sugary foods a lot X_X

The best part is that it is so cheap to get one, one is for £1.50 depending on the weight of the cookie. I would definitely be trying other flavors soon. I recommend it to everyone out there. They have a lot of stores located in London. I have seen two in oxford circus and I am sure there are definitely more around.

I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoy sharing tales about my food journey:):)
